Google launches Android Honeycomb at CES

The Mountain View based Search behemoth has always grabbed the eyeballs, be it for its Street View Project or Chrome OS. This time around though, it has mesmerized the audience at a different platform – CES, The International Consumer Electronics Show, which hosts major technology event every year on January at Las Vegas Convention Center, Nevada through its new offering —Honeycomb software, a refined version of Android 3.0 version — aimed specifically for tablet PCs.

Mike Cleron from the Android Development Team showcased the new OS at the opening keynote at CES which cast a magical spell on the audience at the convention center with new touch-screen interface, cool previews of the new OS and playing with various Google products from 3-D Mapping tool to new optimized Gmail for tablets.

However, the new platform will only be compatible for tablets running on dual core ARM processors like Motorola Droid (see image above), this is set to heat the already crowded tablet market, spearheaded by Apple’s iPad and others. For now though many hardware players from Motorola, LG, Samsung to Taiwanese Acer, Japanese Toshiba are soon set to taste the sweet and irresistible honeycomb, an open-source software from Google.

Let’s see if developers find Honeycomb that sweeter than Apple’s iPad, only future will tell us. Until then keep logging on to www.businessviewsreviews.blogspot.com for latest news and updates.
